The Families First Project of Auburn MRC provides 'early intervention and family support to newly arrived migrants and refugee families with children 0-8 years. Such support aims to meet the developmental needs of these children and for parents to access existing support structures to best equip them in developing and supporting their children. The project also plays a role in assisting to improve families own skills, relationships and self-sufficiency.
EARLY INTERVENTION FAMILIES SUPPORT PROJECT 0-8 YEARS
Families First is a preventative and early intervention strategy to help parents give their children a good start in life. This means supporting families during pregnancy and early years of the child's life - a period when they develop very fast.
The Families First program helps to improve children's health and well-being by:
- Helping parents to build their skills and confidence in their parenting
- Supporting parents so they can respond to problems early
- Building communities that support families
- Improving the way agencies work together to make sure families get the service and support they need
