African Women Caseworker

About the Position: This is a part time position (14-21 hours per week) and is newly funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship under the Settlement Grants Program. It is part of a general African community settlement program to improve access to mainstream. The aim of the position is to help meet the settlement needs of African Women arrivals in Auburn LGA.
Essential Selection Criteria:
1. minimum one year community sector experience working with the African communities, either as an employee or volunteer
2. demonstrated understanding of issues facing newly arrived African refugees, migrants and humanitarian entrants
3. understanding of, ability to engage in, and support capacity building activities
4. understanding of service planning processes and ability to identify policy issues
5. developed case management, organising, writing and verbal communication skills
6. demonstrated ability to work independently
7. ability to work within defined organisational protocols and practices and contribute to refining such protocols and practices
Desirable Selection Criteria:
1. bilingual/bicultural
2. previous experience working with other service providers
Salary: Remuneration is based on SACS Award Grade 3
