Afghan Community Caseworker (Female) P/T

About the Position: This is a part-time position (17.5 hours per week) and is funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, under the Settlement Grants Program. The aim of the position is to meet the settlement needs of newly arrived Female Afghan refugees, migrants and humanitarian entrants.

Essential Selection Criteria:

1. minimum one year community sector experience working with the Afghan community, either as an employee or volunteer
2. demonstrated understanding of issues facing newly arrived Afghan refugees, migrants and humanitarian entrants
3. understanding of, ability to engage in, and support capacity building activities
4. understanding of service planning processes and ability to identify policy issues
5. developed case management, organising, writing and verbal communication skills
6. demonstrated ability to work independently
7. ability to work within defined organisational protocols and practices and contribute to refining such protocols and practices

Desirable Selection Criteria:


1. bilingual/bicultural
2. previous experience working with other service providers

Salary: Remuneration is based on SACS Award Grade 3
